Closure in Mexico City Due to Protests for Justice

For the second consecutive day, the closure of Doctor Río de la Loza road in both directions has been reported at the height of the Attorney General's Office of Mexico City (FGJCDMX), by friends and family of young Daniel Tadeo, who was run over in December. The demonstration also affected Chapultepec avenue.

The traffic closures began from Niños Héroes and Balderas this morning, according to reports from N+. The closure by family members on Río de la Loza is located in the Doctores neighborhood, specifically at the height of Digna Ochoa and Plácido. The recommended alternative routes are Eje 2 Sur and Cuauhtémoc avenue.

The expected duration of the demonstration on Río de la Loza is unknown. So far, neither the authorities, the Attorney General's Office, nor Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega have made statements regarding the mobilizations or the resolution of the hit-and-run case in Mexico City.

The events that led to the demonstration occurred on December 4, when Gabriela, the alleged responsible for Daniel Tadeo's death, invaded the opposite lane and hit the young man who was riding his motorcycle. Gabriela 'N' was arrested and linked to the process, although a judge allowed her to continue in freedom, a decision that has enraged the victim's family who demand justice.

Daniel Tadeo, 29 years old, worked as a delivery person for an application. The protesters denounce irregularities in the judicial process to hold Gabriela accountable for the young man's death. In December, family and friends blocked the same road for nearly 70 hours.

In addition to Río de la Loza, other roads affected by the demonstrations in the Cuauhtémoc borough are Niños Héroes, Chapultepec, Bucareli, Balderas, and Río de la Loza. Following Daniel Tadeo's death, an attempt was made to reach an agreement with Gabriela 'N's family to repair the damage; however, nothing was finalized after the hearing on December 13.
